Collection: Wood Bowls

I like carving bowls as much as a mouse enjoys a pile of peanut butter. Give me a 20" chunk of freshly cut tree and I'm in heaven. Each bowl I carve is an exploration of grain patterns, knots, defects, instantaneous decisions, and riding a razor's edge, and a smooth finish. Some bowls take more time than others and some just turn out nicer. The pricing reflects these variations. Nonetheless, each one is durable, functional and decorative. Unless otherwise noted, each bowl is from wood grown in Vermont.

The process I use to shape the bowls results in subtle warping. I carve the wood when it is wet. As the wood dries it releases tension and settles into a comfortable form reducing the chances of cracking long-term. It also adds to the natural, decorative nature of the work. Keep in mind, nothing says, 'I love you!' quite like a wood bowl.
